Amritsar
: The name Amritsar is the combination of
two words 'Amrit' the Holy Nectar and 'Sarovar' which
means lake, Literally means The Pool of Nector. Sri
Guru Ram Das Ji,the fourth Sikh Guru , had initially
constructed a pool of nector naming it as Amrit-Sarovar
here, and founded Amritsar, which houses the Golden
Temple or Harmandir Sahib.
